Rhinitis

Any age.

The lining of the nose becomes inflamed due to allergy, infection, inhaled irritants, overuse of certain nasal medications themselves, or it occurs spontaneously.

These include nasal blockage, nasal discharge, postnasal drip, itchy nose and reduced smell.

Rhinitis Symptoms

Fibreoptic endoscopic examination of the nose identifies inflammation of the nasal lining and nasal secretions. Testing and X-ray scans can reveal specific underlying conditions.

Rhinitis Diagnosis

Non-operative:
Appropriate oral and/or topical nasal medications are usually effective.

Operative:
Sinusitis or irreversibly swollen nasal linings may require minimally invasive surgery.
